Key Person
Every child who attends the nursery will be given a key person. They will ensure that the child is settled within the setting and they will care for and complete observations whilst tracking your child’s development. The key person will spend time with their key children and parents to ensure, good and strong relationships are formed.

‘The role is to help ensure that every child’s care is tailored to meet their individual needs’ – Statutory Framework, Early years Foundation stage 2015

Planning and observations
Our main focus for the children is to learn through their play. All planning is individual for each individual child, we use observations and the child’s interests to plan fun and exciting activities both inside and outside. The nursery follows the Early years foundation stage curriculum 2017 and all the staff ensure that children have opportunities to develop in all areas of learning. This planning includes phonics teaching for which we use the 'Jolly Phonics' programme.

Tapestry
Observations, photographs and reports are all completed on the online system called Tapestry. It is a secure system and parents will be given a username and password on their child's first day which will give them access to their child’s account. Parents are actively encouraged to add observations and photographs from home, holidays and days out. This is the perfect system for parents to stay informed about what their child is taking part in at nursery, what they are enjoying and the progress they are making.

'High effective monitoring of children’s progress ensures that they achieve to the best of their ability. Staff are nurturing and sensitive to children's needs. Children settle well and develop strong relationships with their key person. Staff have high expectations for every child. They plan a broad range of activities that support children to make good progress from their starting points. Children develop the skills they need for future learning.' Ofsted December 2019
